All About Citrine

Citrine is a sort-after variety of quartz gemstone, appearing in warm hues of yellow and orange. The name citrine is thought to come from the French word for lemon, “citron”, due to its lemony yellow colour. Citrine is a 7/10 on the MOH scale of mineral hardness, meaning it is quite scratch-resistant.
It is the birthstone of November.

It is often referred to as the “Sunshine Stone” and “Merchant’s Stone”, and is thought to bring prosperity, success, and positivity to its wearer. It is also used by some as a protective talisman, believed to carry the energy of the sun to ward off dark energy.

Citrine was used by many ancient societies, likely including the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. It has been found on the handles of Scottish swords and daggers. Critrine has also been popular amongst royalty, including with Queen Victoria.
