Rose quartz is a very popular pink coloured quartz. Rose quartz is a 7/10 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. It is a birthstone of January. Some believe rose quartz to help attract love and positive relationships, promote emotional healing, enhance beauty, and help increase self-esteem and self-acceptance.
Rose quartz has a long history, believed to have been discovered in 7000BC in Mesopotamia. It was used by many ancient civilizations including in ancient Rome, Egypt, and Greece, where it has been found used in jewellery and decoration.
It is also told of in a Greek Myth, where it is said that Aphrodite’s blood turned a white quartz into rose quartz when she was injured trying to protect her lover, Adonis, from an attack by Ares.
